Fractions and decimals are the same idea written two ways, so they sit together here. The sheets run from simplifying a single fraction to adding unlike denominators and moving a decimal point by powers of ten.

## What to expect

Expect common denominators to be the hard part and the arithmetic to be the easy part. Nothing can be added until the two fractions count the same-sized pieces, and finding those pieces is a question about multiples — which is why the factors sheet sits directly before this topic in the catalog.

## Where to start

Start with Fractions set to simplifying, before any adding. A child who cannot reduce 12/18 to 2/3 will not be able to finish an addition either, since every answer wants lowest terms. Then Add & Subtract Fractions, like denominators first. Decimals can come at any point once fractions make sense, and pairs well with the Rounding sheet.
