Grade 5 Math Worksheets
Ages 10–11 · 5 printable sheets
Grade 5 pushes fractions and decimals to the point where they can be handled without a diagram, and introduces the first equations with a letter in them.
What to expect
Expect the jump to algebra to be smaller than it sounds. A child who has been answering □ + 7 = 15 since grade 1 has been solving for x all along; the only new thing in x + 7 = 15 is the name of the box. Simplifying fractions to lowest terms and rounding decimals are the skills worth the most practice in this year.
Where to start
Start with Fractions set to simplifying, which is the skill every later fraction page depends on, then move to Add & Subtract Fractions with like denominators before unlike. Decimals can run in parallel. Leave Solve for x until last, and begin with one-step equations only — they are the missing-number sums of grade 1 with a letter in place of the box.
