Kindergarten Math Worksheets

Ages 4–6 · 1 printable sheets

Kindergarten math is counting before it is anything else. The sheet here keeps every number within 5 for junior kindergarten and within 10 for senior kindergarten, draws dots under the numbers so a child can count rather than recall, and stops at three to five problems so the page is finished while the child still wants to do it.

What to expect

Expect counting to be slow and physical: a finger on every dot, a 3 written backwards, the same dot counted twice. None of that matters yet. What matters is one number word for each thing counted and knowing that the last number said is how many there are. Adding is counting two groups together; taking away is crossing some out and counting what is left.

Where to start

Start with Kindergarten Math on Count at the JK level, three problems a page. Move to Add when counting to five is sure, then to SK and numbers within 10. Skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s comes last, and leads straight into Number Patterns and Add & Subtract in grade 1. Colour in a star for every problem done.
